In 2006, a group of 7 people travelled to Mandritsara, Madagascar, to work at the Hopitaly Vaovao Mahafaly (Good News Hospital). Our main task was to design, build and install roof trusses on a new guest building (Oasis) which was to be used as quest accommodation for visitors and workers carrying out short term projects. We completed this task, and the guest building was left ready for the next team (from Europe) to install the roof. In addition, the Good News Radio station, complete with radio mast, was installed and commissioned at the hospital. A specialist laboratory technician also assisted with day to day tasks and training, in the hospital laboratory. A 120 line PABX telephone exchange was also shipped into Mandritsara from New Zealand to replace the existing 40 line unit. This was also successfully installed and commissioned.
